Here’s a fun way to teach your children about the creation, all while they create and make it their own. I used this to teach my older daughters who are now married, at college, or on a mission. I also used this to teach Primary children. It is a fairly easy project and doesn’t take much preparation or supplies. We did it today with our four youngest.
Supplies for each:
- 2 pieces of white paper or cardstock
- Bowl or small plate
- Scissors
- Colored pencils
- Scotch tape
- Scriptures
Trace the bowl or small plate on each piece of paper and cut out. You should have two circles the same size.
Fold each circle in half one way, then the other, dividing it into four equal pie sections.
On one circle cut out one quarter of the circle, on the other just cut up on one fold line to the center.
Lay the circle with the cut out section on top of the other circle so that one edge of the cut out section lines up with the cut edge of the bottom circle. Tape those edges together.
Start folding up your book until it is the size of one quarter of a circle. Depending on which edges you taped you will either fold it up counter clock wise or clock wise. (Watch video below) Use sticky back velcro on the edge to keep the book closed.
On the cover (the outside of the first flap) have your child decorate and draw “The Creation.”
Read Genesis 1:1-5 with your children to find what was created on the first day. Open the ‘Creation’ page and on the other side draw what was created the first day, labeling it with “Day 1.”
Flip the book to reveal the next page. Read Genesis 1:6-8 and decorate for “Day 2.”
Flip again, read Genesis 1:9-13 and decorate the page for “Day 3.” Keep doing this until you have done every day of the creation.
Day 4: Read Genesis 1:14-19.
Day 5: Genesis 1:20-23
Day 6: Genesis 1:24-31
Day 7: Genesis 2:1-3
When completely open the book is now in a circle – like our planet Earth!

Thanks for the idea! I am going to try it out with my kiddo tomorrow!
